Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
1 Tram Way Palm Springs, CA 92262
A trip to the Palm Springs area would not be complete without a ride on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Featuring the world’s largest rotating tram car, the tram travels over two-and-one-half miles from the desert floor along the breathtaking cliffs of Chino Canyon, transporting riders to the pristine wilderness of the Mt. San Jacinto State Park at an elevation over 8500 feet.
At the top, there are two restaurants, observation decks, a natural history museum, two documentary theaters, a gift shop, and over 50 miles of hiking trails.
Note that Parade registration options will include the opportunity for you to sign up for a group tram ride & lunch, but this “destination drive” provides an alternative should you choose to experience the tram on your own.
The fastest route to the Tramway is via I-10. For a somewhat more interesting, though somewhat congested urban route, you can follow Hwy 111 to Palm Springs, with its eclectic shops, bistros, and historic movie star getaway vibe, then on to the Tramway. Either route will take you to the Palm Springs Visitor Center, an example of the area’s iconic midcentury modern architecture.
