Description: For a very scenic drive, with lots of twisties, take a trip to Idyllwild, in the San Jacinto Mountains. During Parade Week a drive to Idyllwild should bring a welcome relief from the heat since the town sits at a mile high elevation. The mountain town is set among tall pines, sweet smelling cedars, and legendary rocks. Experience the peace and quiet of "small town" Idyllwild, known for its natural surroundings and arts & crafts, and counted among the “100 Best Small Towns in America.”
The drive to Idyllwild begins with twists and turns up the “Palms to Pines” Highway, with spectacular views at every turn. The landscape changes from rugged, rocky terrain to green meadows and eventually to the alpine forest setting of Idyllwild.
The tour lunch destination is the Idyllwild Brewpub, where a gorgeous view of Strawberry Creek and tall cedars enhances the lunch selections specifically chosen for our group at this state-of-the-art brewery.
After exploring the unique shops, art galleries, and just enjoying the cool mountain surroundings you can return south on Hwy 243 until it re-joins the “Palms to Pines” Hwy 74 for more twists and turns as you head back to the Palm Springs area and on to La Quinta in time for a Parade banquet!
